Open Air Market Opens Today

The market is every Wednesday through September.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The new Uptown Square Open Air Market is scheduled to make its debut June 6, according to the Village of Romeoville. According to a village alert, residents are invited to "shop, eat and enjoy food producers & vendors every Wednesday" from 11 a.m to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Sept. 12 (except July 4) at the Edward Hospital Athletic & Event Center, 55 Phelps Ave.

The new June opening date replaces the original May opening date announced by the village earlier this year to allow for more vendors to sign up. The hours of operation have also been expanded.

In addition to the traditional farmers market type of offerings, non-food vendors will also be at the weekly event.

"Farmers markets have become wildly popular," Mayor John Noak previously said, "so we decided to create our own version and open it up to non-food vendors as well."

ROAM will be held in Uptown Square, which is considered Romeoville's "downtown" area. Uptown Square, which already features the previously mentioned Athletic Center, plays host to car shows in the summer and contains the newly constructed buildings housing Fat Ricky's, Franconi's Italian Grocer, Romeoville Dental, Subway, Mity Nails, T-Mobile, and BMO Harris Bank.
