Open House on Metra Station, East Side Set for Dec. 15

In just a few years, commuting could get easier for Romeoville residents, with a Metra station slated to be built just south of the CITGO Refinery on 135^th Street.

Though the project is still in the planning stages, residents are invited to view exhibits, learn more about proposed improvements and offer feedback at an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at , 1050 W. Romeo Rd.

During the open house, representatives for Robinson Engineering will present the phase 1 environmental impact statement.

Attendeeds will have a chance to provide input during a public hearing on proposed improvement plans for the Metra station and commuter parking lot to be built southwest of 135^th Street and New Avenue.

Written comments may be submitted during the open house or mailed to the following address no later than Dec. 29:

East Side proposals unveiled

Meanwhile, staffers from lead project consultant Teska & Associates will present two concept plans on the future redevelopment of the East Side near the commuter station. Residents will be invited to share their thoughts on the proposals.
