Painting, Forest Bathing Planned At Isle A La Cache

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Several programs, including canvas painting and forest bathing, are planned at Isle a la Cache this fall.

First up is a canvas painting event at Isle a la Cache Museum from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 21. According to the preserve, guess will be able to capture the preserve's lagoon and bridge on canvas in a step-by-step instruction program.

Supplies will be provided, and you can bring an adult beverage of your choice. The event is for those 21 and older, and it is $10 per person. You must register by Sept. 18.

The preserve will also hold several museum campus exploration days at Isle a la Cache throughout the fall; on Sept. 24, Oct. 22, Nov. 26 and Dec. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the self-guided exploration, you can visit the 18th-century-era Traders Cabin or peek inside the Native American longhouse above the pollinator garden.

Also in September, the preserve will hold a forest bathing event at Isle a la Cache from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 25. You can join the Forest Preserve for this simple Japanese method of being calm and quiet among the trees.

According to the preserve, you can walk to a forested shoreline trail, sit and observe nature while breathing deeply to de-stress and boost health and wellbeing. Afterward, sip coffee or tea back at the museum and take some time to explore the exhibits and gardens. The event is free, for ages 14 or older, and you must register by Sept. 23.
