Multiple Arrests After Police Investigation Closes Romeoville Street | UPDATED

Section of road closed, school locked down after report of person with a gun.

Three people were arrested in connection with a report of a person with a gun in the 600 block of Palmer Avenue, Romeoville police said Tuesday evening.

Officers responding to a 911 call at around 1:52 p.m. located and attempted to stop a suspect vehicle. A short pursuit ensued before the two occupants of the car surrendered. Police said a gun was found in the vehicle.

The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested, along with a third person apprehended after a foot pursuit, police said.

Two additional people were arrested on unrelated warrants, according to police. No additional details on the arrests were immediately available.

Police said a lockdown was temporarily put in place at nearby A. Vito Martinez Middle School as a precaution during the incident, delaying dismissal "by a few minutes."

Parts of Palmer Avenue are currently closed due to an ongoing police investigation, according to a Village of Romeoville alert.

"As a precautionary measure, A. Vito Martinez Middle School was on lockdown for a brief period of time," the village said "An 'all clear' was given and there is no danger to the public."

Romeoville police were not immediately available for comment.
