Pedestrian Dies in Crash Involving Motorcycle in Romeoville

A pedestrian was struck and killed while apparently crossing Route 53 in Romeoville on Friday night.

Mark D. Stukel, 56, was pronounced dead at 9:28 p.m. at the Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital emergency room after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing Route 53 north of Chambers Drive, the Will County Coroner’s office said.

Stukel was struck at around 8:47 p.m. by a motorcycle heading north on Route 53, police said. According to the Chicago Sun Times, a Bolingbrook man was driving the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was reportedly unhurt.

The incident is under investigation by Romeoville police.
