Police: Bolingbrook Teen Was Shot While Attempting Robbery

Hakeem Buchanan, Kendall Lee and Marquis Nathan reportedly arranged a drug deal, but decided to rob a man instead, police said.

A 19-year-old Bolingbrook man was shot in the leg Thursday night after he and two friends allegedly attempted a robbery.

At around 6:30 p.m., 19-year-olds Hakeem Buchanan, Kendall Lee and Marquis Nathan arrived at a home in the 500 block of Buckeye to conduct a drug transaction with 23-year-old Mohammad Hreish, according to police.

Instead, the trio attempted to rob Hreish of his money, police said. Hreish, who was armed with a 9 mm handgun, allegedly fired one round, which hit Buchanan in the knee, according to police.

Lee, of the 100 block of Vernon, and Nathan, of the 200 block of Meadowbrook, are charged with robbery, according to police. Hreish, of the 500 block of Buckeye, is charged with aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Hreish, Lee and Nathan were booked into the Will County jail Friday morning, according to jail records. Police said charges are pending against Buchanan, who remains hospitalized and is being treated for the gunshot wound.

Police said the incident remain under investigation.
