Prison For Romeoville Man Who Tried To Pay For Sex With Child

Anthone J. Caradine tried to exchange $150 for sex with an underage girl.

AURORA, IL — A Romeoville man arrested as part of a 2015 sex sting at an Aurora motel was sentenced to six years in prison for attempting to exchange cash for sex with a child. Anthone J. Caradine, 29, of the 1200 block of Grand Boulevard, was convicted in October of involuntary sexual servitude of a minor, a traveling to meet a minor, grooming and solicitation of a sexual act, all felonies.

Caradine waived his right to a jury trial after driving to an Aurora motel on March 27, 2015 and meeting with a person he believed was the mother of two underage girls. He confirmed with the person that he wanted sexual favors from a minor girl in exchange for $150.

No minor was ever present or had any contact with Caradine, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Associate Judge Linda S. Abrahamson on Tuesday sentenced Caradine to six years’ imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Under Illinois law, Carradine is eligible for day-for-day sentencing and receives credit for 100 days served in the Kane County jail.

“Our office has prosecuted a number of these cases in recent years as law enforcement at all levels remains committed to wiping out child sex trafficking, targeting both the supply and the demand in the child sex trade. Anyone who seeks to have sex with children will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said.
