19-Year-Old Charged With Murder In Fatal Shooting: Cops

Patrick Otchere, 19, was taken into custody Friday by police in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old, police said.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A 19-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man early Friday in Romeoville, according to Romeoville Police. Patrick Otchere, 19, of Romeoville, was taken into custody Friday by police and also charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and violation of bail bond.

Police received a call reporting shots fired at 2:04 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of Honeytree Drive. When they arrived, officers found Zamir Williams, 20, dead with a gunshot wound, police said.

Police said the shooting happened following an argument between Williams and Otchere, who knew each other.

The coroner's office said an autopsy was scheduled for Saturday, and the final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date pending police, autopsy and toxicology reports.
