RHS Grad to Play for the Titans

University of Louisville left tackle Byron Stingily was a sixth-round pick for Tennessee.

A graduate was the 175th pick in the NFL draft on Saturday.

Byron Stingily, a 2006 RHS grad and a standout on both the baseball and football fields, was a sixth-round pick for the Tennessee Titans.

According to the Nashville Tennessean newspaper, Titans coach Mike Munchak said the 6’5,” 315-pound Stingily can play either left or right tackle, dubbing Stingily “an athletic guy who we feel could come in and provide some competition as a swing tackle on offense.”

RHS Athletic Director Jim Boudouris said hard work and dedication have been Stingily’s keys to success.

“As a high school football player, he was a big, tall, athletic kid,” Boudouris said. “He has worked hard to make himself an NFL prospect.”

Basketball coach Jeff Bambule also talked about the former Spartan’s hard work.

“Byron was a fantastic kid to have on our basketball team,” Bambule said. “Off the court, he was a great teammate and a fun-loving kid who had a great attitude. On the court, he was a hard worker who always put the team first.

“He had a great combination of size, speed and overall athletic ability,” Bambule added.

Stingily played college football for the University of Louisville in Kentucky.

Calling him a “raw prospect,” the Nashville Tennessean praised Stingily’s footwork, adding, “[He] appears to have plenty of upside as a late bloomer.”

“I’ve been under the radar and a lot of people don’t know about me,” Stingily said in a Titans conference call.
