Hill, who also serves as RHS Director of Percussion and a music education teacher, has been an advocate of hearing health for several years.

“I have promote the need to be healthy, the need to wear earplugs, and the need to be conscious about what’s going to all of my student ensembles because people lose their hearing when they don’t pay attention to it,” Hill said. “Even if they just play in high school and never touch another instrument, that is potentially countless hours of damage to their ears.”

“It feels good that they recognize that I’ve bene pushing hearing safety and wellness,” Hill said. “It’s something that is affecting a lot of people. When you get older and wonder why you can’t hear, it was because when you were 14 you did not wear ear protection for all those years.”
