Romeoville Hosts Tree-Lighting, Holiday Decorating Contest
Donate a non-perishable food item for the Winter Wonderland/Hope for the Holidays event.

In conjunction with its annual tree lighting and parade of lights, the Village of Romeoville will host its Winter Wonderland and Hope for the Holidays event from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the Romeoville Recreation Center, 900 W. Romeo Rd.
The event will include a tree-lighting ceremony, stilt walker, kids crafts, dueling pianos, iceless skating rink, inflatables, a train ride, free pictures with Santa for the first 300 kids, face painting, and a free pasta meal for the first 500 attendees.
Admission cost is one non-perishable food item per attendee. Donations will go towards Hope for the Holidays care packages.

Decorating contest
The village will also host its 30th annual holiday decorating contest, sponsored by the Romeoville Beautification Commission.
To register a home, call 815-886-5022 or email llynch@romeoville.org. Registration deadline is 5 p.m. Dec. 12.

Judging is Monday, Dec. 15. Entrants should leave their lights on from 6 to 10 p.m. Only homes with lights turned on will be judged. Homes will be judged based on creative use of outdoor decorations.
Three prizes will be awarded each in the north, central, south and west section of town, and winners will be posted to www.romeoville.org on Dec. 16.
First price is a $75 gift certificate, second prize is a $50 gift certificate and third prize is a $25 gift certificate.
