Romeoville Mayor Charged With DUI: Police

Mayor John Noak's vehicle was stopped not far from village hall the day of the State of the Village Address.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Romeoville Mayor John Noak was arrested on a DUI charge early Thursday evening, hours after his State of the Village address, Romeoville police confirmed Friday. Police said they responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver heading west on Belmont Avenue at around 5:46 p.m. Police said an officer stopped the vehicle as it was traveling west on Romeo Road just west of Belmont and determined that the driver — identified as Noak, 44 — was impaired.

Romeoville Deputy Police Chief Steve Lucchesi confirmed that Noak was placed under arrested and taken to the Romeoville Police Department for booking. Along with DUI, Noak was issued citations for improper lane use and driving a vehicle without proof of insurance.

Police said Noak was released on bond Thursday night. The arrest came hours after Noak's State of the Village luncheon and address at Edward Hospital Athletic & Event center in Romeoville.

Noak returned a call from Patch Friday but declined to comment on the advice of his lawyer, Joliet attorney George Lenard.
