Romeoville Metra Station Added to Heritage Corridor

Romeoville Mayor John Noak along with many area officials proudly cut the ribbon for the new Romeoville Metra Station.

The Romeoville station is the first new stop on the Heritage Corridor since Metra’s creation in 1984 and
the first new stop on any Chicagoland Metra line since 2011.

“This stop has been a goal of ours for a long time,” noted Mayor John Noak. “We’re excited to finally see
that goal achieved and believe it will be a tremendous asset for everyone who lives and works in this
region.”

Service at the Romeoville station will begin on Monday, February 5 when the first train rolls into the
station at 5:54 AM. Commuters will arrive at Chicago’s Union station 58 minutes later.

“Two years after helping to add more service to Metra's Heritage Corridor Line, I am proud to be part of
the opening of this new station which will allow residents of Romeoville and the region to waste less
time each day driving on congested roads,” stated Rep. Lipinski. “As the senior member from Illinois on
the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and a strong proponent of public
transportation, I commend Mayor Noak and the Village Board for their tireless work on this important
project which will improve the quality of life for area residents, provide a boost to the local economy,
and help make the environment a better place for future generations.”

The station has 123 parking spaces, 24 of which are reserved for permit parking. Those spaces sold out
on the day they were released, demonstrating the excitement for the new station. To add your name to

Director Jim Derwinski. “At a time when funding for new stations and other capital needs is in short
supply, it is all the more impressive that Romeoville was able to make this new station a reality. We

The station is located at 899 East Romeo Road, near the intersection of 135th Street and New Avenue.
