Romeoville Metra Station To Open Feb. 5

Service to the new Romeoville Station on Metra’s Heritage Corridor Line will begin on Feb. 5, 2018.

It will be the first new stop on the Heritage Corridor since Metra’s creation in 1984 and the first new stop on any Chicago area Metra line since 2011. Located near the intersection of 135th and New Avenue, the new station address is 899 E. Romeoville Rd. The Heritage Corridor Line runs on weekdays between Joliet and Chicago Union Station.

The station is located in Zone F, which covers stations located 25 to 30 miles from Chicago. A One-Way Ticket will cost $7.25, while a 10-Ride Ticket will cost $69 and a Monthly Pass will cost $210.25. New schedules for the Heritage Corridor are available here and will be available at Chicago Union Station Jan. 30.

The station will offer 123 parking spaces. Annual ($250) or semiannual ($125) reserved permit parking will be limited to 23 permits, with the remainder of the spaces open to daily parking for a $1 fee. Permits will go on sale Jan. 15 for Romeoville residents only and Jan. 22 for the general public. Permits will only be sold online. For more information on obtaining a permit, click here.

Daily fee parking payments will be managed for the village by Passport Parking. A pay station that accepts both cash and credit cards will be located at the station. The project was primarily funded with more than $3.9 million in grants secured by the village through CMAP’s Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) program. Romeoville also secured a supplemental grant from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) for pedestrian access from 135th Street to the station.
