Romeoville Pumping Station Starts Construction

A big step in getting Lake Michigan drinking water to Romeoville is the construction of a pumping and storage station on Village owned property behind the Lukancic Middle School track. The two storage tanks at the site will hold 1.6 million gallons of water each. At the Village Board Meeting, Strand Engineering was contracted to oversee the two year long project.

“This project shows how much closer we are to bringing Lake Michigan water to the community,” said Mayor John Noak. “2030 will be here before we know it and this facility will be important in storing and distributing water to our residents and businesses.”

The station will be the primary pumping facility for the community once Lake Michigan water starts to flow. In addition to the pumping station, the Village is working towards replacing more water mains and completing other prep work on the water infrastructure in advance of 2030.

An informational open house on the project will be held on Tuesday, October 13 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at 615 Anderson Drive. Stop by to ask questions and learn more about this project and other water infrastructure improvements.
