Romeoville Student Interns with Congressional Black Caucus Foundation
The program gives students the opportunity to learn about the legislative process, leadership and careers in the policy making process.

Romeoville, IL — William Z. Riley is currently serving in a summer internship with the Congressional Black Caucus.
"I am looking forward to this internship because I will gain a better understanding of how the policy making process works, and learn how to serve the Lewis community, as well as my residential community better,” commented Riley, who is studying Public Policy and Aviation Administration at Lewis University.

The CBCF Congressional Internship program sponsored by Walmart offers undergraduate students the opportunity to learn about the legislative process, leadership and careers in the policy making process. Interns work in Congressional Black Caucus member offices, attend professional development events, and participate in leadership development projects. Housing and a stipend are provided.
“William is an impressive student. He will be a junior in the fall, and it is unusual for students to secure this type of opportunity during their sophomore year,” said Dr. Laurette T. Liesen, professor and chair of the Lewis University Department of Political Science.

The Public Policy major is an interdisciplinary major in which students take a core of mostly political science courses and select electives based on their career interests: environmental policy; gender, sexuality, and the family; international and foreign policy; society and the legal system; and transportation policy. Students preparing for careers in government, law, non-profits, or business learn about how the public policy-making process works at the local, state, national, and international levels of government.
