Sam’s Club to Close Stores Across the Country

The Village of Romeoville was notified today that Sam's Club has made the decision to close several stores nationwide including Romeoville.

The Village of Romeoville was notified today that Sam’s Club has made the decision to close several stores nationwide. This decision affected many stores in Illinois including the Romeoville location at 460 S. Weber Road. This round of closings is in addition to the announcement by Walmart Stores Inc. in 2016 to close 269 stores in the United States and abroad, including their location in Woodridge, Illinois.

“This came as a surprise to us as Sam’s has demonstrated a strong sales increase each year since opening,” said Steve Gulden, Village Manager. “We were informed the store will close on January 26th.”

The Village has been in contact with Sam’s representatives to discuss the impact of the closing as well as possible options for reuse. Sam’s Club owns its 132,000 s.f. facility on Weber Road.
