School District Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week

ROMEOVILLE, IL — In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8, the Valley View School District delved into its video library to reacquaint students with some of the teachers who were featured during the 2019-2020 school year.

Larry Fisher, choir director, Bolingbrook HIgh School
Fisher was featured on WCIU’s “Learning to Win” segment during halftime of the broadcast of the Lincoln-Way East at Bolingbrook football Game of the Week.

Michele Petkewicz, Romeoville High School AP environmental science
Visit the classroom of Romeoville High School Teacher Petkewicz. The students are determining the climate classification of a location by graphing temperature and rainfall data. The challenge is that sometimes the data does not produce a clearly defined answer. Watch the Video!

Shannon Martin, Lukancic Middle School physical education
Martin was recently named the 2020 Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Northeastern District Middle School Teacher of the Year. The award recognizes Martin’s dedication to her profession and her innovations in classroom learning for her students. Watch the Video!

Yaritza Guzman, Salk Elementary School Kindergarten
Jonas Salk Elementary School Kindergarten teacher Guzman is also an alumna of Salk. Her experience at Salk as a student created her desire to return as a teacher. Watch the video!
