Senior Services Of Will County Stopping Activities, Leaving Romeoville Facility: Report

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Senior Services Center of Will County will move out of the Ovation Center in Romeoville after the organization filed for bankruptcy in May.

The Herald News reported on Friday that the organization is shutting down its activities for seniors and moving out of its two facilities in Romeoville and Joliet. The final day for senior activities is Sept. 30.

Patch reported in June that the organization voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as part of a strategic reorganization.

In June, the organization said the decision was not made lightly.

"Chapter 11 provides us with the opportunity to reorganize, address financial challenges, and position our organization for long-term success," Senior Services CEO Shelia M. Pardo said in a June statement. "The decision to pursue Chapter 11 was not made lightly. A series of financial challenges and external circumstances made reorganization unavoidable. By taking this step now, we are creating a path forward that protects services, strengthens operations, and allows us to return our full attention to the mission that has guided this organization for more than 60 years."

The Ovation Center in Romeoville just opened in 2024 and is located at the former Target building at 349 S. Weber Road. The project was a partnership between Senior Services of Will County and the Village of Romeoville.

In June 2024, it received an Illinois Real Estate Journals Award for Best Redevelopment/Reuse/Historic – Office.

"The 127,000 square foot Ovation Center is a one stop shop for seniors, housing everything from exercise classes and a coffee shop to hospice providers and in home care providers," the village said at the time. "More tenants are joining all the time and village organizations like the Chamber of Commerce and Historical Society will soon move into the space."

In April, a new cafe opened in the Ovation Center, Patch reported.
