Shampoo Spill Closes Road In Romeoville After Semi-Truck Catches Fire: Police

The spill happened Tuesday morning.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A shampoo spill caused a road closure in Romeoville on Tuesday morning after a semi-truck carrying the products caught fire, Romeoville Police said.

Enterprise Drive was closed from Route 53 to Naperville Drive due to the spill.

Romeoville Police told Patch that officers responded to a report of a semi-truck with its trailer on fire at 5:21 a.m. on Tuesday. The vehicle had exited I-55 with a flat tire, which had caused the trailer to ignite.

The truck traveled south on Joliet Road near Route 53, continuing southbound as flames spread across the rear of the trailer, police said. The truck stopped on Enterprise Drive near Naperville Drive.

Romeoville Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire, and no one was injured, police said.

The trailer, which was carrying personal hygiene products, had significant damage. It was towed from the scene, and the road is being evaluated for fire damage, police said.
