Comments from concerned parents and residents on the Plainfield Police Department’s Facebook page claim men were attempting to lure kids to their car.

One commenter who said she witnessed the original incident claims that one of the teens in the car yelled out to a kid if he wanted some candy.

“Would have been a real threat, except for the fact they were teens and … joking,” she wrote. She also noted that there were many parents outside.

However, other residents wanted more information.

“As others have stated, this is actually very alarming and (I) feel as though we need more information as to why it shouldn't be. This car was seen close to downtown Plainfield as well, close to where my son was riding his scooter, and they pulled away when they saw me,” another woman wrote.

After receiving tips from the public, police said on Facebook that they have identified the owner of the vehicle and the juvenile offenders. Police believe the incidents were a prank.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said there is no concern for the public’s safety.
