Teen Who Was Shot Is Arrested on Robbery Charge

A Bolingbrook teenager who was shot in the knee during an alleged attempted robbery has been arrested, according to Will County jail records.

Hakeem Buchanan, 19, of the 200 block of Clifton, was due in court Monday afternoon after being arrested on a robbery charge on Saturday — two days after police said he was injured during the attempted robbery.

Police allege that Buchanan and two other Bolingbrook 19-year-olds, Kendall Lee and Marquis Nathan, went to the home of 23-year-old Mohammad Hreish in the 500 block of Buckeye at around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The trio had arranged to conduct a drug transaction, but allegedly decided to rob Hreish instead, according to police, who said Hreish was armed with a 9 mm handgun and shot Buchanan in the leg.

Buchanan was taken to an area hospital for treatment and arrested upon his release. According to jail records, his bond was set at $200,000.

Hreish is charged with aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm. According to jail records, he was released on Saturday.

On Monday, both Nathan and Lee remained in jail on $150,000 bond, according to Will County jail records.
