Valley View Freshmen Awarded Free College Education

Nine Valley View School District 365U freshmen have been admitted to the Give Something Back Foundation’s pre-funded scholarship program.

The VVSD awardees (current high school freshmen) for the Give Something Back Foundation Scholarship are Damian Contreras from Romeoville High School and Bolingbrook High School’s Daasebre Appah-dankyi, Jose Carrillo, Daniel Dempsey, Mayra Hernando, Carolina Huerta, Citali Najera, Alanis Rivera, Jennie Velazquez

Each student has been given an opportunity to attend Lewis University, University of State Francis or Blackburn College at no cost when they graduate from high school.

“The students selected will participate in activities throughout high school that will prepare them for college,” said GSBF Executive Director Steve Cardamone. “Each student also is given a mentor.”

Give Something Back Foundation (GSBF) was established in 2003 through the generosity of former Lockport resident Bob Carr who wanted to give back to his community by helping students who were committed to excellence complete a college degree. Today students from 21 high schools in Will County are eligible for the award.
