Valley View Kindergarten Enrollment Begins March 17

Students who will be five years old on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for kindergarten.

Open Enrollment for Valley View School District 365U children who will be in kindergarten for the 2016-17 school year, will be held from March 17 through March 24. This period will include one late evening in Romeoville and a Saturday enrollment session in Bolingbrook. Students who will be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2016 are eligible for kindergarten.

The Enrollment Office in the VVSD Administration Center will have extra workers on hand from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 17 and 18 as well as March 21-24. The office will remain open until 6 p.m. on March 23. The Administration Center is located at 755 Dalhart Avenue in Romeoville.

In addition, registrars will be located at the Fountaindale Library, 300 W. Briarcliff, Bolingbrook from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19.

Students must be enrolled by either a parent or guardian.

In order to enroll, the following documents will need to be provided:

1. One of the following showing proof of age:

  • Certified birth certificate with a raised seal (no photo copies, hospital birth certificates or baptismal certificates will be accepted)
  • If foreign born, the child’s passport or legal birth certificate from country in which student was born

2. One of the following for proof of residency:

  • Current Real Estate Tax Bill (2014 will be accepted until the 2015 bill is available)
  • Mortgage statement dated within 30 days of enrollment
  • Current-year lease signed by landlord with landlord phone number

3. One of the following for additional proof of residency:

  • A utility bill in the parent’s name dated within 30 days of enrollment
  • Business mail in parent’s name dated within 30 days of enrollment

4. A photo ID for the parent or legal guardian

Students cannot be enrolled unless all documents are presented. Enrollment forms are available at the District Administration Center, 755 Dalhart Avenue, Romeoville, or by going to the enrollment website www.vvsd.org/departments/enrollment.

Foster parents must bring in the Placement Form to enroll their student. Anyone living with another family will need to bring the homeowner with them with the required proofs of residency plus one proof of residency for the parent. Legal guardians, children living in another person’s home or anyone with residency questions should contact the Enrollment Department to discuss special circumstances before registering.

If a language other than English is spoken at home or by the child, a state-required English proficiency test will be administered in June, July or August. During enrollment, an appointment will be made for this required assessment.

If it is inconvenient to come in during the open enrollment periods, parents may come in to the Administration Center any time during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 4:00 p.m. (closed on legal holidays).
