Valley View Security Officers Complete Search-and-Rescue Training

Four Valley View School District 365U security officers successfully completed the 16-hour Illinois Search and Rescue Council’s Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) class last month.

Thomas Fink, Thomas Weathers, James O’Brien and Mike Allen all completed the training designed for emergency management personnel.

The course, which is considered a basic training course for personnel who have responsibilities to respond to a search-and-rescue incident as a field searcher, provides a broad overview of SAR fundamentals, search techniques, operations and resources as well as training in lost person behavior.
