Valley View Superintendent Mitchem Among Speakers at Dec. 2 Forum

Event is a community forum on pros and cons of standardized testing.

Valley View Community Unit School District 365U Superintendent Dr. James Mitchem will be one of the keynote speakers at a Tuesday, Dec. 2 community education forum on the pros and cons of standardized testing.

The forum, to be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Fountaindale Public Library, 300 W. Briarcliff Road in Bolingbrook, will focus on the transition to Common Core Standards and the often-debated and controversial topic of standardized testing.

Speakers are expected to debate the importance of standardized testing in our education system, discuss alternatives to standardized testing, and share their stance on this important debate. In addition to Dr. Mitchem, Professor of Psychology, guidance counselor, and former college baseball coach Shawn Jarmuz is scheduled to speak.
