Veterans Day Ceremony Planned In Romeoville

A Veterans Day service will be held on Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. at the Romeoville Athletic and Event Center, 55 Phelps Ave.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Veterans Day is Friday, Nov. 11. In Romeoville, the Village will hold a Veterans Day Service on Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. at the Romeoville Athletic and Event Center, 55 Phelps Ave.

In addition to the service, a complimentary breakfast will also be offered to veterans and a guest. Registration is required for the breakfast.

The Village is also creating a video tribute to honor current Romeoville residents who have served in the armed services. Residents can submit veterans to include in the tribute; and must complete a form online by Thursday.

Romeoville's American Legion Post 52 will also be distributing poppies on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 around town. The poppies are distributed in honor of Poppy Day, or Remembrance Day, which is also held on Nov. 11 and remembers the armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.

Post members will be distributing poppies from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 at Blain's Farm and Fleet, 451 S Weber Road; Niko's Breakfast Club, 38 S. Weber Road; Tasty Waffle, 642 S. Weber Road; Walgreen's on Weber Road, Cafe Romeo, 345 N. Independence Blvd.; Starbucks on Airport Road, and Bee Brothers, 472 N. Weber Road.
