Village: No Rain-Out Date for Founder’s Parade
The annual event, cancelled due to inclement weather, will not be rescheduled.

If you were looking forward to the annual Village of Romeoville Founder’s Day Parade, you’ll have to wait until next year.
Cloudy skies and impending rain prompted officials to cancel the event, set to step off from Belmont and Newland Avenue at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. OnTuesday, village staff confirmed that the parade will not be rescheduled.
“It is officially cancelled for this year,” Village Manager Steve Gulden said in an email to staff.

With the theme of “Recreation Rocks!” this year’s parade was to have more than 70 entries, Mayor John Noak said earlier this month. Former Mayor John Strobbe was slated to serve as grand marshal.
The next scheduled village-hosted event, the annual Autumn Colors Craft Show, is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Romeoville Recreation Center, 900 W. Romeo Road. The event will feature crafters, a bake sale, pancake breakfast and concessions.
