Village Purchases Fire Station Alert System

Board awards $94,000 contract.

The village will spend $94,108 to purchase and install a digital fire station call alert sytem that officials say will speed up emergency response times.

The automated system will alert responders to alarms and will interface with the department’s 9/11 call dispatch center, according to Fire Chief Kent Adams.

The board agreed to waive bidding on the purchase because the manufacturer, U.S. Digital Designs, is the sole provider of the equipment.

“Will County 9-11 houses the server for the system,” Adams explained, noting it would cost more if Romeoville were to go it alone.

Mayor John Noak said the purchase is part of the village’s efforts to improve its emergency call system.
