Village Will Host Traditional Memorial Day Event Monday

Patriotic ceremony will take place at veteran's memorial on Montrose Drive

The will host a Memorial Day service beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the at 11 Montrose Drive.

The event will include a presentation of wreaths ceremony, moment of silence in honor of “all past, present, and fallen men and women who have fought or are fighting for our country,” as well as patriotic music performed by the Firefighters Highland Guard of Naperville pipes and drums band and the Romeoville High School Band.

Mayor John Noak will be on hand to welcome guests and provide comments at the ceremony, and Pastor Dennis Taylor of will lead the opening and closing prayers.

Scheduled to speak at the event are Rep. Dan Lipinski of the 3rd Congressional District and Dan Moffett of the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.

Representatives of the American Legion Post 52 and Women’s Auxiliary, Eagle Social Club, Grand Haven Veterans Club, Hampton Park Social Athletic Club, Romeoville Area Historical Society, Romeoville Lions Club, Romeoville Veterans Commission and Village of Romeoville will participate in a ceremonial presentation of wreaths.

Free parking will available in the former village hall parking lot and along Montrose Drive.
