VVSD Board Approves Romeoville HS Partial Roof Replacement
The project will cost $811,000, and begins at the end of May.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — Last August, Romeoville High School experienced a severe storm that caused extensive wind damage to the gymnasium roof system, the District shared in a news release.
During the storm, the mechanical rooftop air intake hood was blown off, causing high winds to get
beneath the roof membrane and pull out of the mechanical fasteners that secure the roof insulation. This compromised the roof integrity and the roof is now susceptible to puncture and water penetration. A roofing company was hired to patch the roof immediately until a more permanent replacement of the damage could be put into place this summer, the District said.
Bids for the project were opened on Jan. 21, and 11 contractors submitted bids.
