Where To Get Free Coffee In Illinois On National Coffee Day

Coffee: Some of us can't even start our day without it. And what's the only thing better than a fresh, hot cup of coffee? A free coffee. In celebration of National Coffee Day on Friday, Sept. 29, many chains with area locations are offering deals and freebies.

Some mom-and-pop coffee shops may also have specials, so check around. For the major chains, here's what you need to know:

Dunkin Donuts

It's buy one, get one free at Dunkin Donuts this Friday. Buy a medium, large or extra-large hot coffee and receive a free medium hot coffee. Sorry, no iced coffee on this deal.

Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme (locations in Homewood, Bloomington and Springfield) is turning Coffee Day into Coffee Weekend. Between Friday and Sunday, anyone who enters the store can get a free hot coffee in any size or a free small iced coffee, no purchase necessary.

7-Eleven

7-Eleven has also extended its Coffee Day promotion. Customers who download the 7Rewards app can get a free coffee through the weekend.

McDonald's

For a limited time, patrons can get a $2 small specialty coffee at participating locations. Plus, find coupons for a free medium McCafe with any purchase using the McDonald's smartphone app. In addition, you get one free drink with the purchase of any five McCafe drinks using a scannable QR code from the app at checkout.

Starbucks

No deals or freebies, but on National Coffee Day, the chain will be "taking over" its stores for three days. Shops will have no menu boards, and the Seattle chain will share information on how customer coffee purchases have made a difference.

Keurig

Starting Friday and ending Sunday, get 20 percent off K-cups and bagged coffee on the Keurig website with the code CELEBRATE, and get free shipping with orders of $39 or more.

Peet's Coffee

Customers can get 25 percent off all beans on Friday and a free coffee or tea with purchase of coffee beans. Customers will get 25 percent off non-bean purchases online with the coupon code COFFEEDAY17.

Cinnabon

Get a free 12-ounce coffee on Friday at participating locations.
