White Fence Farm In Romeoville Named Among 'Great Suburban Restaurants'

Home of the "world's greatest chicken" has been a local favorite for 63 years.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Pressure cooked, then flash fried: The White Fence Farm website reveals the secret to its self-described "World's Greatest Chicken." That chicken — plus the eatery's homemade cole slaw and out-of-this-world corn fritters — have made the restaurant a local favorite for more than six decades and earned it numerous accolades. Now, the restaurant has earned a spot among Eater Chicago's 25 Great Suburban Restaurants, 2017 Edition.

Now celebrating its 63rd year, White Fence Farm still has its original location along Joliet Road in Romeoville, complete with an abundance of farm animals and petting zoo. There are also carryout locations in Joliet, Plainfield, Downers Grove and Riverside.

Eater Chicago had this to say about the eatery: "The original White Fence Farm in Romeoville is where you can pet and hug a chicken moments before they're dipped into the fryer—no, not really." The list also makes note of White Fence Farm's "much talked about" fritters. (For more local news, click here to sign up for real-time news alerts.
