ROMEOVILLE, IL -- A Braidwood woman attempted to run from cops during a field sobriety test and ended up biting one of the officers after a St. Patrick's Day car crash, Romeoville police said.

Romeoville Cmdr. John Ferdinardo said Ann M. Stuart, 49, of 404 W. Sixth St., was involved in a crash with another vehicle at around 4:56 p.m. Friday near Route 53 and 135th Street. Both vehicles had pulled into the nearby Mobil gas station at 344 N. Independence Boulevard to wait for police to arrive when the other motorist "noticed (Stuart) was intoxicated," Ferdinardo said.

A Romeoville officer arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and was conducting a field sobriety test on Stuart when she attempted to flee on foot, police said.

Police caught up to Stuart, who put up a struggle and bit an officer on the hand during the scuffle, Ferdinardo said. The officer was wearing gloves and the bite did not break the skin, according to police.
