Yo, Romeoville! Hydrant Flushing Starts Monday
The flushing will take seven weeks to complete. Discolored water may occur.

It’s time to flush the hydrants!
The Village of Romeoville will be flushing its fire hydrants starting on Monday, March 16, 2015, weather permitting.
Flushing will take place Monday through Friday. Scheduled flushing will be done between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and will take ten weeks to complete, ending on May 30.

- Flushing will begin on the west side of Weber Road starting Monday, March 16.
- Flushing will begin on the east side of Weber Road starting Monday, April 27, 2015.
- Signs will be posted on the day near the area that is being flushed.
Flushing helps removed sediment and mineral deposits that settle on the bottom of water mains. It also gives the water department a chance to make sure the hydrants are operating properly.
Discolored water can be drawn into homes or businesses if water is used during or immediately after area water mains are flushed.

The discolored water is caused by naturally occurring minerals that will be dislodged during flushing. This mineralized water is not harmful to drink, but could cause laundry stains.
