Chaplain Mroz grew up in Frankfort, a Southwest Suburb of Chicago. He is the son of two registered nurses, one of whom went on to become a Developmental Psychologist and graduate professor at Loyola University Medical Center. After graduating from high school in 2008, Chaplain Mroz attended college for a year before ultimately deciding to enlist in the United States Marine Corps as a Reconnaissance Marine (0326). Halfway through his twelve years of service, Chaplain Mroz gave up the chance to serve with Marine Special Operations Command to pursue a call to ministry. More specifically, Chaplain Mroz felt called to serve both the local church and the generation of warfighters who had served throughout the Global War on Terror.

After finishing college and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (2015), Chaplain Mroz went on to attend seminary at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. There he went on to complete the Master of Divinity degree (2020) and later a Certificate in Christian Counseling (2023). During his time in Charlotte, Chaplain Mroz worked in various ministry contexts, to include pastoral ministry, pulpit supply, and biblical counseling. Out of the three, Chaplain Mroz enjoys being able to make one on one connections with people in a counseling context the most.

After moving back to the Chicagoland area in the Fall of 2023, Chaplain Mroz took a short break from vocational ministry to pursue an interest in the field of Aviation. In 2024, he would go on to attain his Private Pilot License from the Chicago Executive Flight School. Later that year, he would also go on to complete his Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot’s License, and Commercial Multi-Engine Rating from CRAFT Flight Training and Simulation in Charleston,

South Carolina. It was during this time that Chaplain Mroz discovered Civil Air Patrol. In January of 2025, Chaplain Mroz officially became a member of Civil Air Patrol with the Palwaukee Composite Squadron located at Chicago Executive Airport. By May of 2025, Chaplain Mroz was installed as the Squadron Chaplain and served there until April 2026 before transferring to the Scott Composite Squadron located at Scott Airforce Base. As an ordained minister and Chaplain Resident with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Chaplain Mroz’s hope is to one day be able to augment the Active-Duty Air force component and become a full-time Staff Chaplain with the Department of Veterans Affairs. In the meantime, Chaplain Mroz continues to pursue higher education at both Southern Illinois University and Covenant Theological Seminary where he is enrolled in an online Master of Science in Aviation Management program and a Doctor of Ministry degree.
