Professional Civil Air Patrol Biography for Major Jeffrey MacHott, Deputy Commander for Seniors, Scott Composite Squadron, Scott AFB IL

As the Scott Composite Squadron Deputy Commander for Seniors, Major Jeffrey B. MacHott assists the Squadron Commander to ensure that Civil Air Patrol’s goals, policies, and operational directives are successful within the squadron. He curates plans, policies, and procedures that are essential to conducting the CAP mission and does not conflict with higher headquarters' directives.

He accomplishes this through personal observations, inspections, reports, and staff meetings; to stay up to date on the successes, issues, and level of compliance with regulations and other directives.

He also ensures the squadron maintains an efficient safety awareness culture, that each adult member advances their education and training, and an inspection program within the unit to monitor and provide continuous improvement.

Major Jeffrey MacHott also serves and advises the Civil Air Patrol Overseas Group as the Deputy Education & Training Officer. He previously served within the Overseas Group as the Squadron Commander for the Misawa Cadet Squadron, Misawa Air Base, Japan from 28 September 2020 to 10 May 2023.

Major MacHott is an Emergency Services Operator in Search and Rescue and Disaster Relief with specialized training as a certified ground team member, disaster assessment, radio operations, electronic direction finding, and skills evaluator.

Major MacHott has received many Civil Air Patrol decorations and awards for dedicated services, to include the Exceptional Service Award, Commander’s Commendation Award (National), two Achievement Awards, and the Crisis Service Award during the COVID-19 response.

Major MacHott became a member of Civil Air Patrol in 2015, when he joined the Cheyenne Composite Squadron, Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he served as the Squadron Education and Training Officer while stationed at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base.

Major MacHott is also a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force, where he serves as a Civil Engineering Operations Management Craftsman, stationed at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He has served in the Air Force since 2007, and his career has taken him to California, Kansas, Korea, Japan, Wyoming, and Illinois.

Major MacHott is originally from El Paso, Texas, he has a wife, Rosie, and a cat, Meowmaru.

Major MacHott has a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Maryland Global Campus and a Master of Library Science from Texas Woman’s University. His interests include photography, running, and finding excuses to talk about the marathons he has run in.
