2 Women Beat Victim In Shorewood Parking Lot: Barten

SHOREWOOD, IL — Shorewood police have arrested two women from Morris following Wednesday's early morning robbery and beating along the frontage road that injured a 21-year-old woman from Hanover Park.

By Wednesday afternoon, Heather Niemotka, 47, and Sirena C. Guajardo, 26, were both in the Will County Jail facing charges of aggravated battery and robbery, according to Shorewood deputy police chief Jason Barten.

The attack happened around 5:20 a.m. in the 19700 block of Northeast Frontage Road.

Barten said the 21-year-old woman was struck several times in the head, face and throughout her body in the parking lot while her purse and cell phone were stolen by Niemotka and Guajardo.

The victim knew both women previously through a relationship, Barten said.

She identified the getaway vehicle and provided the license plate, Barten said.

Shorewood police notified other area police agencies of the violent attack and by 6:10 a.m. the Grundy County Sheriff's Department stopped the getaway vehicle in Morris.

Niemotka and Guajardo were both inside the car and "items tied to the victim were located inside the car," Barten said. The two women were arrested by Grundy County and both women were subsequently taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and charged with aggravated battery and robbery.

Jail records listed Niemotka and Guajardo as both residing in the 500 block of East Washington Street in Morris. Shorewood police listed Guajardo as being a Plainfield resident who lived in the 23100 block of West Hickory.

Barten said the victim refused medical treatment for her injuries.
