SHOREWOOD, IL — A 32-year-old member of the Shorewood community now finds himself locked away behind steel bars at the Will County Jail in connection with a child pornography investigation that has lasted for nearly eight months.
According to the Will County Sheriff's Office Facebook bulletin, on Feb. 13, the detectives reviewed an Internet Crimes Against Children cyber tip reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children last Halloween from Snapchat.
After detectives executed a search warrant Snapchat and subpoenas to varies providers, detectives named 32-year-old Enrique Rubio as the suspect.
This week, on Tuesday, the sheriff's detectives executed a search warrant for Rubio’s residence in the 300 block of Brookshore Drive in Shorewood. Upon execution of the search warrant, detectives seized electronic devices belonging to Rubio. A forensic review of Rubio’s cell phone yielded five videos containing child pornography and detectives identified the juvenile victim as a family member of Rubio, the sheriff's agency noted.
On Wednesday, at approximately 4:15 p.m., detectives detained Rubio at his residence and transported him to the Will County Sheriff’s Office pending a further investigation.
On Thursday, "detectives interviewed Rubio who subsequently confessed to manufacturing the CSAM (child sexual abuse material) videos found on his device," sheriff's officials said.
Rubio was charged with three counts of producing child sexual abuse material, two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and now he's in the Will County Jail where he is being held pending a detention hearing.
