SHOREWOOD, IL — Every so often the Shorewood Police Department is called to the Home Depot store on Route 59 for a shoplifting crime. Such an incident happened last week, and that resulted in the arrest of 52-year-old Plainfield resident Christopher Koelbl on charges of retail theft. The arrest report indicates that Koelbel had been an employee.
According to the Shorewood police arrest summary, around 5 p.m. on July 28, the on-duty officers were dispatched to Home Depot in reference to a retail theft.
At the store, the officers met with the Home Depot manager who advised an employee was observed on multiple occasions concealing unpaid for items, totaling over $700.
According to Shorewood police, "Koelbl had admitted to stealing the items and was placed under arrest."
He was ultimately released and given a notice to appear at the Will County Courthouse. Koelbl comes from the 1900 block of Plainfield's Arbor Fields Drive.
