SHOREWOOD, IL — A 56-year-old Shorewood man, Dennis Krohn Jr., will remain in the Will County Jail indefinitely under the SAFE-T-Act, following last weekend's arrest at his house in the 25300 block of West Balmoral Drive. According to the criminal complaint from the Shorewood police, Krohn put a gun up to the woman's head inside his household, grabbed her by her hair, tried to strangle her and put his hand on her neck.

The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has charged Krohn with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated assault and two counts of domestic battery. The Shorewood Police Department responded and made the arrest.

The case was handled by the Labor Day judge, Gabriel Orenic, who ruled that Krohn met the criteria for the dangerousness standard of the SAFE-T-Act. Orenic has been a Will County associate judge since 2024.

According to prosecutor Steven Platek's petition to deny pretrial release, on Sept. 6, the Shorewood officers took a complaint from a woman who indicated "the defendant, put a gun to her head multiple times, strangled her with his hand on her throat while applying all of his body weight, and grabbed her by her hair, dragging her around. He threw her out of the residence stating that he would kill her and her friend, Tracy Caliendo," court files show. "He also commented about killing himself."

The victim did not need medical attention, prosecutors indicated. The victim and Krohn both reside at the same property in the 25300 block of West Balmoral Drive.
