• Shorewood Man, 56, Put Gun To Woman's Head During Overnight Strangling Attempt: Prosecutors (patch.com) — A Shorewood man is being held in Will County Jail after prosecutors say he put a gun to a woman's head and tried to strangle her inside their shared home on West Balmoral Drive. A judge ruled he met the SAFE-T Act's dangerousness standard, keeping him detained as he faces aggravated domestic battery and assault charges stemming from the Sept. 6 incident.
   

• 'It May Be Necessary' To Raise Insanity Defense After Gunfire Hits Senator Meg Cappel's House: Defense Lawyer (patch.com) — Shorewood residents affected by last year's late-night shootings at two homes, including State Sen. Meg Cappel's, are seeing the case move forward as the defendant now seeks a sanity evaluation and possible insanity defense. A Will County judge ordered a professional assessment of the Hammond woman accused of firing into the Shorewood houses, with a December court date set to review her mental fitness.
