SHOREWOOD, IL —The village of Shorewood is hosting its annual Okto'Brew'Fest this Saturday, September 19, at Cene's Four Seasons Park. This year, the event will also feature Shorewood's rescheduled fireworks show at 8:30 p.m.
From 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. attendees can enjoy an afternoon and evening of German fare, live music, and fun for the whole family. Admission is free, and the first 100 kids to enter will receive a goodie bag with a fall craft to enjoy during the event.
The Dirndolls, an Alpine Folk band, will take the stage right at 3:30 p.m., followed by Don't Matter To Me, a Classic Rock cover band, at 6 p.m., and How Rude!, a 90s cover band, at 9 p.m.
"Okto'Brew'Fest is an event that both residents and staff have looked forward to every year since it was brought back in 2013," said Recreation & Events Manager Katie Fitzpatrick. "Whether folks are looking to celebrate the traditional Oktoberfest that takes place every year in Germany or simply looking for a fun night out with friends and neighbors, this event features a little something for everyone."
At 8:30 p.m., we will take a brief break from the live music so attendees can watch the fireworks from the tent or hill. The fireworks display was originally scheduled for Crossroads Fest but had to be rescheduled after being cancelled due to weather. This show gives back the opportunity to gather and celebrate a Shorewood tradition of saying farewell to summer with a bright display.
Delicious food and drink offerings will be available for purchase from Wurst Kitchen and Backdraft BBQ. Domestics, cider and malt beverage options, and German imports will be available at the Biergarten.
The event is credit card only and drink tickets for alcoholic beverages must be purchased from the Village booth near the entrance.
With increased attendance expected, the Shorewood Police Department is reminding residents to expect increased traffic and pedestrian activity around Four Seasons Park before, during and after the fireworks show. Attendees should allow extra time, follow posted traffic directions, and be patient as everyone arrives and leaves the park.
Parking is available at Four Seasons Park, with access from Seil Road. Please follow posted signs and directions from officers as you enter and leave the event.
The fireworks are also expected to create increased noise throughout the surrounding area. If you live nearby, have pets, or simply prefer to avoid the noise, please plan accordingly.
