Shorewood Bank Robber Jumps Over Counter, Demands Cash: Chief
Shorewood police warned residents to avoid the area while they investigate.

SHOREWOOD, IL — Shorewood's police chief said that a white man with short dark hair, wearing sunglasses, jumped over one of the counters inside the Shorewood Bank and Trust at Route 59 near Black Road around 9 a.m. Tuesday, demanding money.
The man got away before Shorewood police arrived to the scene of the crime.
Shorewood Police Chief Phil Arnold also said the bank robber wore a hooded sweatshirt with a dark torso, gray sleeves, gray sweatpants, and he wore dark athletic shoes. The bank robber also carried a dark backpack as he committed his crime.

After jumping over the counter, the bank robber demanded one of the tellers open a drawer and remove the money. No weapon was ever shown during the crime, Arnold noted.
The robber was last seen walking southbound from the bank. Anybody who can help Shorewood police and the FBI solve the crime is asked to call Shorewood police at 815-725-4636.

Prior to the mid-afternoon news release, Shorewood police announced that the bank robber was not believed to be in the Shorewood area any longer.
