Bank Robber Captured, Used Electric Bicycle: Shorewood Chief
Shorewood police say they are working with the FBI and formal charges are pending.

SHOREWOOD, IL — An off-duty Joliet police officer helped the Shorewood police solve Tuesday morning's bank robbery inside the Shorewood Bank and Trust on Route 59, Shorewood Police Chief Phil Arnold announced Wednesday morning.
The suspect was captured around 9 a.m. Wednesday at the McDonald's restaurant on Route 59, Arnold said. The suspect's name, age and hometown have not been divulged.
The off-duty Joliet officer at the McDonald's spotted someone fitting the description of the offender wanted for the bank robbery at the Shorewood Bank & Trust, Arnold said. The suspect was arrested without any problems, Arnold noted.

The McDonald's is about two miles from the site of the bank robbery.
"The suspect had an electric bicycle, clothing and a backpack that match those seen on video captured on various cameras surrounding the area of the bank," Arnold said.

For now, the FBI and Shorewood Police Department continue to investigate, and more information will be released when it comes available or when charges are filed, police advised.
