SHOREWOOD, IL —A 58-year-old Shorewood man who spent Thursday night in the Will County Jail after being arrested on four counts of child pornography possession is no longer in custody.

John Cottingim was freed from county detention around 7 p.m. Friday after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bail, jail records show. Shorewood Deputy Police Chief Jason Barten told Patch that a search warrant took place at Cottingim's house on Thursday, and he was arrested.

Cottingim lives in the 500 block of Buckingham Place, part of a large subdivision off South River Road. Barten said the child pornography investigation that led to Cottingim's arrest had been ongoing for several months.
