Civil War Symposium at the Museum
Featuring local authors, scholars and historians! Sunday, May 17th

The Museum will host a plethora of local Civil War experts to discuss a variety of topics pertaining to the end of the War in 1865 and beyond. Presenters include Museum President Robert Kuzma, professor and author Bruce Allardice, author Robert I. Girardi, author David Keller, writer and attorney Kurt Carlson, and amateur historian Jerry Allen. Topics covered will range from the 100th Illinois Infantry to leadership of Civil War generals to the role Chicagoland played in the war. The day’s exciting agenda is as follows:
11:00 am - Bruce Allardice - “Chicagoland Fights the Civil War”
12:00 pm - David Keller - “The Story of Camp Douglas”
1:00 pm - Jerry Allen - “He Should Have Remained With Us ”
2:00 pm - Robert I. Girardi - “The Rise and Fall of the G.A.R. in Chicago”
3:00 pm - Kurt Carlson - “Backing the Boys”
4:00 pm - Robert Kuzma - “150 Years Ago or the Patriotism of Will County”
