Coming Soon To Shorewood: 'Bahn Mi Is Arguably The World's Greatest Sandwich'

SHOREWOOD, IL — Joliet's neighboring community to the west, Shorewood, continues to flourish, but it's not just the new YMCA at Wynstone Boulevard and a few new subdivisions well underway. This week, a new sign appeared inside the business plaza along Route 59, near Black Road, for a Bake & Bite Vietnamese restaurant that will feature bahn mi, bowls and wings. The banner reads "Coming Soon."

Joliet Patch's editor visited the property on Tuesday, and the new restaurant operators are cousins of the family that owns and operates the 2 Teas Boba restaurant next door. They informed Joliet Patch that no date has been set for the grand opening.

"We're very excited for Vu and his family as they open their new restaurant in Shorewood," village of Shorewood economic development director Natalie Engel told Joliet Patch. "Bake & Bite is a family-owned business, and we're proud to see the family behind the successful 2TeasBoba continue to invest in our community. They are bringing a new dining experience to town, which we are thrilled to welcome."

One member of Brian Bessler's enormously popular Facebook group called Joliet Area Bar and Restaurant Guide shared a photo of the coming soon sign, letting everyone know it's opening on Route 59 across from the Home Depot.
