Driver Sending Text Messages Lands In Will County Jail After Shorewood Police Make Arrest: Agency
WESCOM advised the Plainfield motorist had a valid and servable warrant from Kendall County for failure to appear in court.

SHOREWOOD, IL —If you were of the belief that the police could not put you in jail following an incident of texting while driving, then take a look at the case of 34-year-old Plainfield resident Kirtis Woolfolk. Friday marked his third consecutive day lodged inside the Will County Jail.
Actually, Shorewood police did not arrest him for a new crime, rather, Woolfolk had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Kendall County. The only reason he drew the attention of Shorewood's patrol officers was because the Plainfield was busy texting while driving, police documents show.
According to the arrest logs, the incident happened at 8:46 a.m. on Wednesday at 940 Brook Forest Avenue, which is better known as Route 59.

Shorewood police files show that officers were traveling northbound Route 59 towards Black Road when they saw a gray Kia K4 in the outside lane of Route 59 stopped in traffic due to the red traffic signal.
There, they observed Woolfolk with both hands on his cellular phone. Woolfolk immediately placed his phone down. The traffic signal turned green and Woolfolk continued north.

The officers activated the emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop. The officers met with Woolfolk and explained the reason for the stop. Woolfolk admitted to sending a text message, the arrest report noted.
The officers radioed Woolfolk’s information to WESCOM. WESCOM advised the Plainfield man had a valid and servable warrant from Kendall County for failure to appear in court. Woolfolk was placed under arrest for the in-state warrant and taken on a ride to the Will County Jail in Joliet.
Woolfolk comes from the 12800 block of Grande Poplar Circle in Plainfield.
