The Funtymers will perform standards from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s for the residents and the public at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at The Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.
The three musicians will play a wide variety of familiar, crowd-pleasing favorites. They are Bud Boblink, Lyle Gaaskjolen and Marty McCarthy.
“We add a little humor, a touch of magic and some fun surprises,” said Boblink.
Boblink is a world renowned harmonica player who has performed on radio, TV, and cruise ships. He was a member of Johnny Puleo’s Harmonic Gang and the Harmonicats. He was also named the Harmonica Player of the Year.
Lyle Gaaskjolen plays banjo and has played in various bands since the early 1960 - a college jazz band, show groups, dance bands and a Dixieland band. Marty McCarthy is an experienced musician who adds rich depth on bass.
The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
Again, the performance is free and open to the public. For more information, call Shelly Goggins at 815-609-0669 or visit http://www.timbersofshorewood.com.
